In construction the working day does not pass through a fixed office. That is why the working-time record on site is one of the most searched pains: you have to show clock-ins, clock-outs and changes with a credible trail.
Why there is more noise now
On top of the duty already in force, the public debate about a digital and unalterable record is pushing many builders to leave paper and Excel. Better to get ahead with a system you can actually use in the field.
What to ask of a serious tool
- A daily record per worker (start / end, and breaks if they apply).
- That it is not trivial to “delete and rewrite” without leaving a mark.
- Export for inspection or your adviser.
- That the labourer can clock in on site, not only in the office.
